A community educator, Fabricio Velez is a high school Assistant Principal for School District 27J in Brighton. Fabricio has more than 16 years of experience in K-12 education, working primarily with under-resourced and underserved student populations. He began his career as a classroom assistant before becoming a teacher, program coordinator, and dean of students. Fabricio has expertise in designing and leading intervention models to re-engage at-risk and dropout students. In the community, Fabricio reviews grant applications in education and arts education as a consultant for The Denver Foundation. Before discovering his passion as an educator, Fabricio was a professional actor and dancer in his native country of Ecuador. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Central del Ecuador and a master’s degree from the University of Colorado Boulder.
