I said I was “fine.”

But I wasn’t.

I smiled. I showed up. I delivered.

And behind the scenes, I was running on empty—burning the candle at both ends until all that was left… was smoke.
Burnout doesn’t always come with warning lights.

Sometimes it whispers in your ear:
Just push through.
Everyone’s counting on you.
You can’t stop now.
And so you don’t. Until your body decides to stop for you.

The exhaustion, the stress, the anxiety I had buried for months finally surfaced.
Sleep vanished. My immune system crashed. And the signals I had been ignoring became impossible to silence.
We praise hustle. We romanticize resilience.
But we rarely talk about the cost of never slowing down.
Here’s what I’ve learned the hard way:
Rest is not a luxury. It’s a leadership requirement.

Boundaries aren’t selfish—they’re self-respect in action.

Saying “I need to step back” isn’t letting others down. It’s choosing to come back stronger, clearer, and more present.

And here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:
When you do step back—something powerful happens.
Others rise.
Collaboration deepens.
And often, more gets done than if you’d pushed through on empty.
If you’re in a season of burnout, hear this:
You’re not weak.
You’re not alone.
And you don’t have to earn your healing.
You are allowed to pause.
To reset.
To be fully human.
The Cumbre Mindset isn’t just about climbing higher.
It’s about knowing when to stop, breathe, and reclaim your strength.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, and every month after, let’s shift the narrative:
– Let’s normalize rest.
– Let’s honor boundaries.
– Let’s trust that when we pause, we create space for others—and ourselves—to rise.
