Symposium to Release New Data on Colorado’s Growing Latino Electorate

The Latino Leadership Institute at the University of Denver is hosting a first-of-its-kind symposium on Colorado’s growing Latino population and how it could impact the 2016 election. The Oct. 20 symposium will release new data on the Latino community’s diverse demographics, preferences, and voting behaviors. It will also include never before released data about Latino millennials.


Barela to Headline Inaugural Class of Colorado Latino Hall of Fame Inductees

Along with four other individuals and a family foundation, Las Animas County Senator Casimiro Barela will be inducted posthumously into the Colorado Latino Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural signature event for the Latino Leadership Institute (LLI) at the University of Denver.

Power In Numbers: Latinos Fueling Colorado’s Economic Growth and Workforce


On Thursday, March 1, the Latino Leadership Institute co-hosted the Power In Numbers: Latinos Fueling Colorado’s Economic Growth and Workforce symposium with the Denver Business Journal. The sold-out event was attended by nearly 150 business and community leaders from across the Denver Metro area.

Demographic, business and industry experts from across sectors presented relevant data on growth trends of Colorado’s Latino community and discussed the strategies companies are employing to maximize market share while fostering diverse and inclusive work places. The symposium was part of the Latino Leadership Institute’s Impact Initiative which was launched last year.

Announcing Additions to LLI Board of Advisors

The Latino Leadership Institute at the University is excited to welcome two members to our Advisory Board.

Diane Garcia, an alumn​a of the​ Institute’s Fellowship ​Program joins the Advisory Board as the Fellowship Alumni representative. Diane has ​served as a​ human resource professional and executive for more than 20 years, most recently as the Vice President of North America and Corporate Recruiting​ for Level 3​ Communications.

Chris Chavez serves as the Director of Global Corporate Citizenship and Corporate Relations for Ball Corporation, and is the Executive Director of The Ball Foundation.

In addition to the two new additions to the LLI ​Advisory ​Board, we’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Patricia Baca for her ​years of ​service on our Board of Directors and her role as a founding Board member. Dr. Baca was instrumental in launching the institute. She has ​served on our Board since 2015.
