Abel Montoya

Abel Montoya is the Director of Regional Affairs at Adams County. He has also served as Adams County’s Director of Long Range Strategic Planning and Director of Planning and Development since 2009. Over the past 17 years, Abel has led multi-disciplinary teams to implement a range of economic and community development projects across the Metro Area. Prior to his work with Adams County, Abel worked for the City and County of Denver in both the Office of Economic Development and Housing and Neighborhood Development Services. A native of Denver, Abel received his undergraduate degrees in Environmental Design and Economics from the University of Colorado Boulder and a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Colorado Denver. A dedicated public servant and lifelong learner, Abel mentors local high school students on a community health project designed to improve the mental health of seniors in his community.
