Valerie Lovato

Valerie is an elementary school educator for Denver Public Schools (DPS). Outside of the classroom, her passion is the Parent Teacher Home Visit (PTHV) project which allows her to perform community outreach work and build deep relationships with the families of her students. She is a home visit trainer for DPS and the Colorado PTHV Hub, which aims to expand the program to other schools and communities. A Colorado native, Valerie earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Northern Colorado. Her years in Greeley provided many experiences including becoming bilingual and serving on the national board for her sorority, Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, Inc. She has served as a mentor teacher for four student teachers and has been praised as an outstanding teacher by her principal. In 2017, Valerie was selected to be on the Colorado Department of Education commissioner’s teacher cabinet. She is passionate about volunteering her time for her sorority and teacher’s union.
